"Discovering Athens Landscape" is a family educational program that aims to familiarize the participants with the Attic landscape, the dominant Athenian flora and the important ancient monuments of the area. Families with children will have the opportunity to collaborate, play, explore the landscape and discover elements of engineering during the construction of Parthenon.
How many animals are hidden in the ... wall of a post-Byzantine church? What name would you give to this pomegranate? Which sounds of the forest do you distinguish? What particular characteristics of survival is developed by Attic flora? What ancient monuments did you discover? How did the Parthenon marbles go up to the sacred rock?
Children together with their parents will find remnants of ancient civilization on the hill of Philopappou. They will interpret their importance and use in modern times. They will identify basic species of Attic flora, reflect on their particular characteristics, discover the microcosm that grows around them and discover the work of the famous Greek architect and artist, Dimitris Pikionis. Finally, reaching the highest point of the Philopappou hill, the participants by viewing the Acropolis hill and the mountain Penteli will understand how ancient engineers lift the Parthenon’s marbles up to the sacred hill.
